Test Sections
The ASVAB consists of nine sections, each measuring different skills and abilities. 1. General Science: This section tests your knowledge of science concepts, including biology, chemistry, and physics. 2. Arithmetic Reasoning: This section assesses your ability to solve basic arithmetic problems and understand mathematical concepts. 3. Word Knowledge: This section evaluates your vocabulary and understanding of word meanings. 4. Test Format
The ASVAB test is computerized and administered at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or other designated testing location. The test is untimed, but it typically takes about three hours to complete. The questions are presented in a multiple-choice format, with four possible answer choices. There is no penalty for guessing, so it is recommended to answer every question, even if you are unsure of the correct answer. Upon completion of the test, you will receive a score report that shows your scores for each section as well as your overall ASVAB score. The ASVAB score is used to determine your eligibility for enlistment and to categorize you into different military occupational fields (MOS).
