Abdominal Pain
One of the primary symptoms of Crohn's Disease is abdominal pain. The pain is often cramp-like and can occur anywhere in the abdomen. It may be more severe after eating or during periods of increased inflammation. In some cases, the pain may be constant or intermittent.
Diarrhea
Frequent diarrhea is another common warning sign of Crohn's Disease. The stools may be loose, watery, or contain blood. Diarrhea may occur suddenly or become chronic. It can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance if not managed properly. In some cases, diarrhea may be accompanied by urgency or a feeling of incomplete bowel movements.
Unintentional Weight Loss
Unexplained weight loss is often observed in individuals with Crohn's Disease. The inflammation in the intestines can interfere with nutrient absorption. This can lead to a decrease in appetite and subsequent weight loss. In severe cases, malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies may occur.
Fatigue
Fatigue is a common symptom reported by individuals with Crohn's Disease. The chronic inflammation and other symptoms can contribute to feelings of exhaustion. Anemia, a condition characterized by low red blood cell count, can also cause fatigue in Crohn's Disease. Managing inflammation and optimizing nutrition can help alleviate fatigue.
